“Dilema Existencial” (Existential Dilemma) tells the story of Abigail (19), a college student from the Dominican Republic. At the beginning of the semester, a professor assigns a video essay where she has to talk about her identity and how she sees herself. Abigail struggles with it as she feels that wherever she goes she must “prove” her identity as an Afro-Latina to people. Through various flashbacks of past experiences, Abigail remembers others’ opinions of her identity don’t match to what she really wants to be.
